Ach, liebe Keramik. Du Gut der Erde. Du hast etwas urtümliches, du erdest uns. Du fühlst dich an wie ein tiefer Schluck frischer Alpenluft oder so wie, wenn man einem dicken Baumstamm entlang von unten in die Krone schaut. 

Das ist keine historische Altertumsausstellung, aber vielleicht eine Liebeserklärung. Eine Ausstellung darüber was die heutige Künstlergeneration mit Keramik anzustellen vermag. Werke, die ebenso handwerklich wie künstlerisch virtuos sind. Denn genau das ist das entscheidende Verhältnis. Nichts ist mehr klassisch dabei, und doch spielt der Blick auf die Tradition bei allen Künstlern und Künstlerinnen hier eine Rolle. Wir zelebrieren gleichermassen wie weit das Medium gekommen ist und wie weit man damit gehen kann.

Ah, dear ceramics. You ware of the earth. You have something primal about you; you ground us. You feel like a deep breath of fresh Alpine air or like looking up from below into the crown of a thick tree trunk.

This is not an exhibition of historical antiquities, but perhaps a declaration of love. An exhibition about what today's generation of artists can do with ceramics. Works that are equally virtuosic in terms of craftsmanship as they are in terms of artistry. Because that is precisely the crucial relationship. Nothing is classic anymore, and yet the view on tradition plays a role for all artists here. We celebrate both how far the medium has come and how far one can go with it.
